These terms cover both Kystek services: Kystek Launcher and Kystek server hosting. The sections below apply to both unless they say otherwise, and hosting has its own section further down. Kystek is small and run by the people who built it, so read this as plain rules for a shared space, not a legal shield.
The service
Kystek Launcher is provided as-is, run on infrastructure the maintainer personally operates. There's no uptime guarantee, no SLA, and no warranty of any kind. It can go down, change, or be discontinued at any time. It's free to use.
Your account
Signing in uses your Microsoft/Minecraft account via Microsoft's own authentication — we never see or store your Microsoft password. You're responsible for whatever happens under your account. Don't share your session or credentials with anyone else.
Acceptable use
Don't:
- Upload mod files you don't have the right to distribute
- Upload malicious files (malware, files disguised as mods, anything designed to harm someone running it)
- Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
- Use the reporting or moderation system in bad faith (false reports to harass someone)
- Try to break, exploit, or gain unauthorized access to the service or other users' packs
Mod files are not scanned or vetted by the service beyond basic format validation (must be a .jar file, size-limited). Downloading and running mods is the same trust decision it always is with any modpack — only install from people you trust, same as you would with any Minecraft modpack from anywhere else.
Content ownership
You keep whatever rights you already had to content you upload (mod files, pack names/descriptions). By uploading, you're granting the service permission to store and serve that content to other users of the pack it belongs to, and — if the pack is public — to anyone browsing public packs.
Moderation
Admins can remove content, freeze a pack pending review, or ban an account, at their discretion, for violations of these terms. Moderation actions taken on a pack are logged in that pack's own activity history — they're not hidden from the pack's owner.
Termination
Your access can be revoked (account ban) for violating these terms. You can stop using the service at any time by simply not using it, or permanently delete your account yourself from the app's Account page — see the Privacy Policy for what that does and doesn't remove.
Game server hosting
Hosting is ordered and managed through the Client Area at billing.kystek.com, which uses its own account separate from the launcher's Microsoft sign-in.
Free test servers.
- Free servers run in one-hour sessions. When a session ends, the server is saved, stopped and suspended until you renew it from the Client Area.
- One free server per account. Don't create extra accounts to get around that limit; duplicate accounts may be removed along with their servers.
- Free resources, the session length and the versions offered can change at any time, and the free tier can be paused or withdrawn.
Acceptable use on servers. In addition to the rules above, don't use a server to:
- Attack, scan or flood other systems (DDoS, port scanning, spam)
- Mine cryptocurrency or run anything that isn't a game server
- Host content that is illegal, or that you don't have the rights to distribute
- Deliberately degrade the hardware for other customers (for example, lag machines built to max out the host)
Servers that break these rules can be suspended or deleted without notice.
Your data. You're responsible for your own worlds and files. Download backups of anything you care about. Deleting a server, or cancelling it in the Client Area, permanently removes its files. We don't guarantee that data survives hardware failure.
Support. Hosting support is handled through tickets in the Client Area.
Changes
These terms may change as the project does. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
